IKEA is known for its challenging shopping conditions. I've always thought of shopping at IKEA as kind of like visiting a casino. IKEA, like a casino, draws you in, hides all the clocks, disorients you with mazes and shortcuts, pumps delicious food smells into the air and convinces you to drop a bunch of money before you walk out the door. You end up leaving with a sense of accomplishment, excitement and shame.
