Dapper Folks: Smith Schwartz is the Ultimate Digital Nomad

When I first met Smith Schwartz we were both freelance writing for Apartment Therapy and living in Chicago. Just a couple of months after meeting up in person, Smith announced that she was leaving her day job and setting off an a grand adventure. Smith and her husband, Erik, sold most of their possessions and decided to become digital nomads.

I can practically hear you asking, "So what's a digital nomad?" If you're reading this while sitting in a cubicle, you may not want to know. The short answer is that Smith and Erik travel from city to city while holding down jobs that don't require sitting in an office all day. As web developers, Smith and Erik are free to work wherever there's an internet connection. When they realized that there was nothing tying them down to Chicago, they came up with this idea to live a nomadic life. Don't you just love the 21st century?

The Schwartzes first started their adventure back in October 2011 and, almost two years later, they're still at it. They've lived in cities ranging from Oahu, Hawaii to Panama City. Along the way, Smith has been blogging about her travels on Schwartzography. She's also become a bit of an expert at traveling with style. In addition to posting about the trials and travails of a life on the road, Smith also posts some awe inspiring photos, like this image of the Chicago skyline.

Thanks for the inspiration, Smith!
