Dapper Stuff: Goorin Bros. Flat Cap

Everyone should have a few good hats - for both winter and summer - in their wardrobe. Now that we're inching closer to summer, it's time to retire those wool hats and stocking caps for the season. Time to reach for cotton and straw hats on those rainy spring mornings and bad hair days.

I picked up this new cotton flat cap from Goorin Bros. last week. This will probably be Captain Dapper's go-to hat for the spring and summer seasons. It's lightweight and a little loose so it's comfortable. It can also be folded and mashed so it can stuffed into a pocket or bag. And since I'm sure it'll cover my sweaty noggin a few times over the hot Midwest summer, it's also washable.

I buy a lot of hats from Goorin Bros. There are two retail shops here in Chicago and in a few other states but you can also order online and you'll probably run their hats in smaller indie shops as well. Goorin Bros. hats are designed in Francisco but most are made overseas. They also have a Heritage Collection of hats that are made in the US. I've splurged for a couple of the Heritage hats and they're definitely worth the extra few bucks.
