Captain Dapper is constantly inspired by the talent all around him.
I've known Seattle based menswear designer Michael Cepress for a few years now. I first met Michael online in a fashion forum, where I was drawn to his menswear designs and he wanted to know more about my line of handbags and accessories. Over the years we were each other's cheerleaders while we managed our respective design businesses. I shuttered by handbag business a few years ago but have remained Michael's cheerleader, leading a gleeful chorus when his designs were worn by Macklemore and Lewis and when he launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund his 2013 collection.
One of the things that I've always admired about Michael's style is his nod to the bohemian past. We've often joked that we're both hippies at heart. Very clean and thoroughly 21st century hippies, mind you, but hippies nonetheless. This quality is seen not only in his personal style, which is a mix of his own designs as well as some vintage pieces, but also in his newest collection, American Dreaming. Think caftans, ruffles and prints.
And, hello, that hair! For the hair alone Micheal Cepress deserves to be included in Dapper Folks!
