All the Discounted Designer Home Goods You Should Buy at JC Penney
... Before It's Too Late
Creating a Dapper Home on a Budget

Last January, when former Apple exec Ron Johnson announced the changes he had in store for J.C. Penney, he touted collaborations with big modern designers like Michael Graves and Jonathan Adler. Oh how things can change in 20 months! Johnson is no longer the CEO, having been ousted after his experiments with turning the stodgy mall retailer into a cooler, hipper marketplace didn't improve sales. And while J.C. Penney definitely looks like a different store today, it looks like it may be ready to revert back to its old ways. Today, most of the designs from those much ballyhooed big names are heavily clearanced.

It's a shame that Ron Johnson's plan wasn't given more of a chance to work itself out. These design collaborations turned out some beautiful pieces. I wasn't recently in a Penney's while visiting my parents and, even in their small town, the store seemed modern and fresh. I appreciate this new direction but I can also see how it may not fly in the small communities and suburbs that are the store's mainstay.

Well, lucky for us, J.C. Penney's indecision is our great decorating fortune! From Jonathan Adler's Happy Chic line to the Design by Conran line, there are a lot of great modern finds that are unbelievably discounted right now. Check out a few of favorites:
